P. Scott Vallely. Mr. Vallely is an expert on paper markets, distribution, and designing / developing paper grades for niche markets. He has developed proprietary grades as well as marketed commodity grades for most of his career. He has direct involvement with every transaction with each end user to assure a professional experience and premium service.
Mr. Vallely also consults frequently for clients of both investment bankers and private equity funds on various aspects of the pulp and paper market, as well as assists with third party diligence and marketing information on the industry.
Mr. Vallely has nearly thirty years of experience in the paper and distribution industry. He is the co-founder and Managing Director of Paper.com LLC, a website with nearly 40,000 SKUs of paper. The site focuses on marketing products to both professional businesses and individual consumers. Mr. Vallely manages the operations of Paper.com, provides overall direction, develops strategy, as well as heads up all vendor relationships and also has profit and loss responsibility. Vallely has spent his entire career in the Pulp and Paper industry and authors the Paper Industry News for Paper.com.
As Mr. Vallely was growing Paper.com, he started a call center in Manila to support the requirements of Paper.com’s data, marketing, accounting/finances, and customer service. The company, Shift Resources Philippines Inc., grew to 11 end users (including Paper.com) and a staff of 58. Mr. Vallely was solely responsible for the hiring, training, and development of this staff and operation. He created all policies, as well as set procedures and objectives for a successful entity.
Prior to Paper.com Mr. Vallely was the Managing Director of A. T. Clayton & Co. Inc.’s Coy, Hunt Division; he was also a founder and an officer of the corporation. Clayton is one of the world’s largest paper distributors. He spent much of his time on both operations and business development, with paper grades marketed into specialty, niche segments. Mr. Vallely excelled in new product design for grades that he had produced by both domestic and foreign manufacturers. During his tenure, he managed Clayton’s sales growth from $86 to $340Million. He was involved with creating financial and marketing budgets, and consulted with managers to confirm the progress and success of programs. Prior to A. T. Clayton, Mr. Vallely served in many marketing and sales capacities for Champion International Corporation (now part of International Paper Company).
